I created this platform as sort of an open diary, something that is intimate and personal to me, but also something that I think is powerful and that other women across the globe can relate to, and benefit from.
In this world, as a brown skinned woman, a black indigenous American woman, I have seen, heard, felt, tasted and experienced so much turmoil, based around by identity. I'm tired. Chillllllle! I know other women of color are tired too. We take on so much, give so much of ourselves, yet are rarely celebrated. We are overworked, overwhelmed and underappreciated. We have been sitting around, or out here on the front lines, waiting for, fighting for validation from the world.
Well that time has come to an end. No more repeating the same old narrative. No more standing around. Validation has nothing to do with how the outside world sees us, but it has everything to do with the way that we see ourselves. True, our unpleasant experiences with others can leave us feeling drained, lost, confused or even traumatized, at the end of the day, no matter how bad we feel, no matter how much we have endured, at the end of the day, we are the ones making a choice on what way we will move in our lives.
We build ourselves in this false image of what some other person views as a woman. We are labled with titles like feminine, and forced to shove ourselves into a bx, that mutes and dishonors all of the many facets of who we are. Our bodies are ridiculed and hated, yet every other culture has no problem emulating and imitation, appropriating us. We are shamed for celebrating our beauty, while others covet it for their own benefit.
This platform will be all about the raw truth! The TRUE POWER of women of color. I will be sharing my personal thoughts and realizations on body appreciation, spirituality, art of all types of mediums , relationships, motherhood, sisterhood, womanhood, wife-hood. I will also be sharing activities, meditations, and other goodies and resources, centered around the empowerment, love, celebration, beauty and power of women of color.
